by the clock

May 30, 2010

Spring came late that year,
I thought,
while the clouds ripped
while the winds rang

You guzzled your cleanses
and waited for god

while we hibernated
and waited for a sign

while the greens poked up
and the cornflowers blushed
and the sun rose higher
we turned our faces to the sun and

waited for the spring

and when it came,
in the summer,
we grew.
